My Autobiography by Michael Normandy, Sr.
The New York World's Fair 1939/1940
One of the highlights of my teenage years was going to The New York Worlds Fair. The symbol of this World's Fair was the Trylon and Perisphere, shown in the postcard above. It had a 700-foot spire and 200-foot sphere. It was huge and impressive. It is a special memory because our whole family went to the World's Fair together. Even my 78-year-old grandpa Vincent Simonetti went with us. Mom was the family photographer with her little box camera so she isn't in a lot of our pictures.
Grandpa Vincenzo Simonetti at the
Italian Pavilion. There was a statue
of Roma on top of where he was sitting.
